    Project Engineer

    IQE Inc is seeking a Project Engineer possessing experience with MBE growth and characterization of III-V materials. The ideal candidate will have experience with experience with Antimonide (Sb) and Nitride deposition. Additional experience with other epitaxial growth techniques (e.g., MOVPE) is highly desirable.

    This person will be a key contributor to IQE’s development programs. Included responsibilities will be the oversight of epitaxial growth and characterization. In addition, this person will serve as the primary technical liaison between IQE and key customers.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills are key requirements of the position, and the successful candidate will possess superb interpersonal skills allowing effective interaction as a member of a technical team..

    Education and/or Experience:

    • BS (advanced degree preferred) in a science or engineering field
    • At least 5 years of deposition/growth experience

    IQE Inc is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our Bethlehem, PA facility. 12 hour shift/ day and night positions available.

    The Technician is responsible for all aspects of MBE system operation and material characterization in a production environment/ Expected to understand and interpret growth and characterization data and meet customer and internal specifications for epitaxial materials.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Position requires and Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree

    MBE Engineer

    Bethlehem (PA)

    The MBE Engineer is responsible for efficient process implementation on, and day-to-day operation of, all assigned MBE reactors. Responsibilities include safety, production, material quality, and maintenance. The MBE Engineer is expected to understand and anticipate interactions between the growth process and the customer’s process so that the customer receives material that meets or exceeds expectations. The MBE Engineer is expected to provide technical input for the development activities and to participate in continuous improvement activities for epiwafer production.

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Four-year degree or equivalent experience necessary to perform job responsibilities
    • Minimum three years MBE growth experience preferred

    Other Skills and Abilities:

    • Good understanding of semiconductor growth
    • Familiarity with vacuum science, high vacuum equipment, and electronics; including a working knowledge of temperature controllers, ion gauge controllers, ion pump power supplies, etc. necessary to run a MBE
    • Good understanding of semiconductor physics including band structure, crystal structure, impurity effects, depletion effects, etc.
    • Must have working knowledge of semiconductor Characterization equipment, including the ability to interpret the data from standard equipment (e.g. PL, Hall, E-CV, Surfscan, Lehighton Rsh, X-Ray, and Hg-probe)
    • Basic understanding of the theory of semiconductor device operation (e.g., FET, diodes, BJT, lasers)
    • Basic understanding of the processing of the above-mentioned devices
    • Basic understanding of quantum mechanics and electromagnetic fields
    • Communication skills necessary for effective interaction with other personnel within the company
    • Knowledge of computers and software necessary to generate reports and run the MBE reactors
